Your build checklist: a custom tool or portal
One page. What we'd build, when you should buy instead, and the three questions to answer first.
What we'd usually build
A screen your team has open all day, built around how the work actually happens: who's doing what, what changed, what's late. Or a place your customers log in to see their orders, invoices and progress, so they stop calling to ask. Logins, roles, a record of who changed what, and numbers you can trust because they come from the system doing the work. Your code, your data, exportable any time.
When a ready-made app does the job (and we'll say so)
If a ready-made tool fits eight tenths of your process and the other two tenths don't matter much, buy it. It's cheaper, and someone else fixes the bugs. We'll say so. Custom earns its cost when the way you work is why customers pick you, and every off-the-shelf tool makes you work its way instead.
Three questions to answer before anyone builds
- Which spreadsheet or notebook is the real system today, and who understands it?
- Who needs to log in: your team, your customers, or both?
- What is the one number you can't get today without someone copying it by hand?
What it looks like to work with us
A 30-minute call, or a few lines by email. Then a project assessment: what to build, what to buy, what to skip. Then a written proposal with the scope, one fixed price and the schedule, before any work starts. We build it, show you as it takes shape, and hand over your code and your accounts. The assessment is yours whether or not you hire us.
One thing we can show you
A job intake and dispatch tool for a Dallas business is in build now: intake that won't submit half-finished, a board of live jobs, routing to a phone. It isn't finished, and we'll show you where it really is if you ask. The build we can show you finished is a store: Barista Plus Coffee.
