Deliveries come in short and the credits never get claimed. Catch it at the back door.
The bill says four cases of salmon. Three came off the truck. Nobody had time to check, so it went into the walk-in and the bill got paid in full. Line Board has a delivery check: count what arrived, see what is short, and get the credit request written for you. It is a working demo today.
What it looks like on a normal day
You run a restaurant. Or a cafe, a bakery, or a bar with a kitchen. Deliveries come in all week. The pain is the same.
The truck shows up in the middle of prep. Someone signs for it, stacks the cases in the walk-in, and gets back to the line.
A case of chicken is short. A price went up since last week. Nobody notices until Thursday, when the chicken runs out early.
By then the bill is in the office pile. Asking the supplier for a credit means finding the bill, working out what was missing, and writing an email nobody has time for. So it never gets written.
Nobody skipped the check on purpose. There was no time.
What it costs you
Not a number. It depends on your suppliers and your orders, and we will not guess. But you can name the costs yourself.
- Food you paid for and never got. A short case paid in full is money handed to the supplier.
- Prices that creep up. A little more per pound, week after week, that nobody checked against last time.
- Running out early. Your count says you have chicken because the bill said so. The walk-in says otherwise.
- The office hour. Matching bills to what arrived, after close, when you would rather be home.
You know you should check every delivery. The hard part is doing it with a line to run.
What fixing it looks like
A quick check at the back door, against what you were billed. What is short gets flagged. Stock goes up by what really came in, not by what the bill says. And the credit request is written for you on the spot.
What Line Board does in the demo today:
- Check it in against the bill. Each line shows what was billed. You count what actually arrived.
- Short cases flagged. A line that came in short is marked with the credit it is worth.
- Stock goes up by what arrived. Your counts match the walk-in, not the bill.
- A credit request, already written. In plain words, for the supplier: what was short and the credit you are asking for. You copy it and send it yourself.
- It asks before it saves. Checking in a delivery changes your stock, so it shows you what it will do and waits for a yes. You can do it by voice, too.
In the demo, the bill comes from orders placed inside Line Board, with sample suppliers. For a real kitchen, we build the check around how your deliveries and bills already arrive. We will not pretend the supplier's credit is automatic. Getting it paid is still between you and them.
Try it: check in a short delivery. You play the chef, check in a fish delivery, and see the credit request written for you.
Proof
Line Board is a working demo with sample data. No restaurant has run it yet, and we would rather say that plainly than borrow proof from somewhere else.
What we can show you: the demo, and the build page, with a screenshot of a delivery check-in and its credit request.
If you run the founding pilot, we write down before day one what we will count, like deliveries checked in and the credits they flag. We do not promise what the supplier pays back.
Honest limits
- We can flag a short case and write the request. We cannot make a supplier pay a credit. That is between you and them.
- The check only works if someone does it when the truck arrives. We make it quick. We cannot count the cases for you.
- Line Board has not run in a real kitchen yet. Setup is also where we build what a real kitchen needs and the demo does not have yet: loading your own data, keeping it from one day to the next, the connection to your point of sale, and separate screens staying in step. The point of sale connection and the syncing between screens are not built yet.
- You would be the first restaurant, and we would say so in writing.
Questions people ask
What is a short delivery?
When a supplier bills you for more than what came off the truck: a case with less in it, a missing item, or a higher price than last time. The usual fix is a credit on your next bill, if you ask for it.
Does it send the credit request to my supplier?
No. It writes the request, and you copy it and send it. Nothing goes to a supplier without you.
Will it work with my suppliers?
The demo uses sample suppliers. For a real kitchen we load your suppliers and set up the check around how their bills reach you. We look at that on the first call.
Can my team check in a delivery by voice?
Yes, in the demo. Because it changes your stock, it shows what it will do and waits for a yes first.
What does it cost?
Line Board has a founding pilot for our first restaurant. The terms are on the build page. The first call is free.
