Problems we fix

Your store is slow on phones. Customers will not wait to find out why.

Plenty of customers shop on a phone, sometimes on a weak signal. If the first picture takes ages to show, some of them leave before they ever see your coffee. We find what is slowing the page down, fix it, and show you Google's test before and after.

What it looks like on a normal day

You are a roaster with a Shopify store. Or a shop, or a brand that sells anything online. The pain is the same.

On your laptop at work, the store looks great. On your phone in the parking lot, the home page sits blank. Then the menu jumps. Then the big photo finally shows up.

You put a video on the home page because it looked beautiful. You added a reviews app, a pop-up and a chat bubble. Each one was a good idea. Each one also gave the phone more to load before a customer sees anything.

You ran Google's speed test once. It gave you a red number and a list of words nobody explains. You closed the tab.

The store is not broken. It is just heavy.

What it costs you

Not a number. We have not tested your store yet, and we will not guess. But you can name the costs yourself.

  • Visitors who leave before the page shows. You worked for that visit, with an ad, a post or a friend's recommendation.
  • Search. Google recommends good page loading scores to site owners, and says they line up with what its ranking systems reward. It is one signal among many, not a promise of a spot on page one.
  • Apps that cost more than their fee. Some apps load their code on every page, even pages where they do nothing.
  • Your best photos, seen last. The nicest thing on the page is often the thing that loads last.

Your store can look fine to you on fast Wi-Fi and still be slow on a customer's phone. That is the part we look at first.

What fixing it looks like

Speed work is mostly taking things away, in the right order. Your store should look the same when we are done. It just shows up sooner.

What we would do for you:

  1. Test it the way Google does. We run Google's PageSpeed test on your live store, on its phone setting, and write down the scores before we touch anything.
  2. Find the biggest thing on the page. Often it is a large video or photo at the top. We show a still picture first and load the video after it.
  3. Size photos for phones. A phone gets a phone-sized picture, not the one made for a big screen. Pictures further down wait until the customer scrolls to them.
  4. Clear out code the store does not use. Themes often carry code for features your store never shows. We remove it, or move it out of the way.
  5. Make apps wait their turn. Things like a reviews widget load when the customer gets near them, not before the first picture.
  6. Test again, the same way. You get the before and the after, from the same test, with the date.

Speed is on the list in our free store check, recorded on video. If you want us to make the fixes, Fix my store is one fixed price, with the list agreed in writing before we start.

Proof

We did this for Barista Plus Coffee, a Dallas roaster, the day their store opened. On Google's phone test, the home page score went from 65 to 92. The main image showed up in 2.9 seconds instead of 15.4.

The fixes were the ones above: a still picture before the video, photos sized for phones, 91 unused theme files removed, the theme's leftover styling loaded later, and the reviews app loading only when a customer scrolls near it.

Source: Google PageSpeed Insights, phone test, on the live store, September 26, 2026, single runs. Scores move by up to about 10 points between runs, so each one is a snapshot. Product pages on that store score in the 80s on a phone, because most of what is left is Shopify's own checkout and tracking code. Every page we tested is in the case study.

Honest limits

  • We cannot promise a score. Google's test moves by up to about 10 points from one run to the next, even when nothing changed.
  • A faster store does not promise more sales. It takes away one reason people leave. The rest is your coffee, your prices and your photos.
  • Some of the weight is Shopify's own: checkout, tracking and code every Shopify store loads. We cannot remove that, and we tell you which part is which.
  • If an app you rely on is the slow part, we tell you, and you choose whether to keep it.

Questions people ask

How do I know if my store is slow?

Run Google's free PageSpeed Insights test on your home page and look at the mobile result. Or ask for our free store check: we open your store on a real phone, and speed is one of the things we look at.

Will my store look different after?

It should not. We change how the page loads, not how it looks. If something has to change, like a video at the top, we show you first.

Do I have to delete my apps?

Usually not. Most apps can load a little later instead of first. If one app is the main problem, we tell you and you decide.

Will a faster store rank higher on Google?

Google says good page loading scores line up with what its ranking systems reward, but speed is one signal among many. We will not promise a ranking.

What does it cost?

Speed fixes on a store you already have can be part of Fix my store: one fixed price for the fixes agreed in writing. See our pricing page.
